Es un trío femenino de electropop de Hiroshima, Japón, conformado por Ayano Oomoto, Ayaka Nishiwaki y Yuka Kashino. El grupo se formó originalmente en el 2001, y el año 2005 hicieron su debut en un sello major de Japón, Tokuma.

Desde 2003 la música del grupo es producida por Yasutaka Nakata, fundador del grupo Capsule. La música de Perfume, inicialmente con marcada influencia del post-Shibuya-kei, realizó una marcada transición a la electrónica, la música bailable y el Pop, una vez que ingresaron al sello Tokuma. La utilización de elementos como auto-tune y vocoders es habitual en sus trabajos musicales.
